500-Buffalo Nickels D & S Only-Mostly Dateless or Super Weak Dates-Old Acids
E proudly offer the following coins for sale. This is a listing of 500 of the more sought after "D" & "S" only mint Buffalo Nickels (#PP02-064) with their dates previously restored. Their dates were worn down through natural wear over the years in circulation and were restored through a chemical process. Brighter light and some tilting of the coins sometimes helps to see the restored dates easier. As these particular nickels were restored years ago and then stored in a cloth bag, many of these will need to be restored again as the coins were able to rub together and their dates are now super weak or not visible anymore.
Due to heavy wear, some of the mintmarks are not identifiable between a "D" and a "S", either, but you can see something there to confirm it is a mint marked Buffalo. Sometimes restoring the mint mark area can help in identifying a "D" or a "S".
Sometimes just gently using a white non-abrasive eraser over the date area of a restored coin can remove the surface dirt that can accumulate and hide the date. Some dates in this group are still readable with up to full 4 digit dates especially when the nickel is tilted with the addition of some extra light. We bought these like this many years ago and have not gone through them for any dates or want to spend the time to restore the ones that need to be restored again. Although there will be a few darker nickels, overall, this is a very decent looking group of Buffalos. The coins you see in the photos are the ones that you will receive.The coins are in raw, uncertified condition and are guaranteed 100% authentic. This is a great way to find and fill some of the harder-to-find date slots in your album at a fantastic price!
