Throughout the last decade I have been blessed to have the opportunity of purchasing Wild Yellowstone Bison Robes from the Confederated Salish & Kootenai tribe-here in Northwest Montana. My robes are tanned to order and are completely brand new when you pull them out of the box.
No wondering how old the dressing on the blanket, or who else has cuddled your robe here. These are truly one of a kind items-no two are alike-that will last forever. Yellowstone Bison have a silkier, cleaner-more dense hair than domestic Bison. Many say the Yellowstone strain is the purist in the world. These robes are not just one of a kind art, but can also be used utilitarian style.
Stay warm in a blizzard, use one as camouflage, dress up your home with a touch of the west, or throw one on your bed as a top comforter (I have the most intense dreams when I sleep under mine, maybe because it's so warm:) Each of these wild robes is so individual in characteristics-that there is no stock photos here. This particular robe was harvested from a 1-2 year old bull and was harvested by a tribal member in late January near Gardiner, MT. 100% prime super silky winter hair. The colors on this bull scream Majestic!
These wild blankets are just plum full of Caramels, Cocoa's, Gold, Blonde, Black edges. This bull is super blonde-looks like a Grizzly bear!! Soft and supple-light natural late spring dressed-natural gold leather with amazing suede. This robe measures 75" long by 69"wide, making it around 37sq ft-fairly good sized++There is assorted small skinning holes throughout the entire blanket-made by the hunter-that are NOT sewn. However-I DID hand sew assorted larger holes-mostly in the hump area. There is numerous scars throughout rump/flanks/and neck. One very large hairless scar in right flank. I feel these natural defects only give the piece immense unique Wild character. This robe is an impressive blanket by anyones standards-No disappointments-guaranteed!
