Signed and numbered by the artist. Forging against an icy blast, the huge American bison bull responds to the first snow of the season by heading toward new feeding grounds. Look closely at the scene and you will discover a prairie slope comprised of buffalograss, yucca, western wheatgrass, blue grama, Indian ricegrass, and curlycup gumweed. Look out across the expanse and you will find a vast herd of thousands of bison moving with a single purpose. This is a time before fenceposts and freeways, when the bison moved as freely as the wind.

This is a time when packs of buffalo wolves followed the great herds, and they too are here to be discovered by your searching eye. Scott Patton is a native Iowan who has won Best of Show and First Place awards in shows throughout the state. He has won the Iowa Wildlife Federation's Belt Buckle contest four times and received the Honor Award from the Soil and Water Conservation Society.
